The current renovated depot is the third building erected on the same site since the 1800's. This building was built originally in the early 1900's, and a portion of it is still being used as an Amtrak station waiting room today. "The Crescent," which still runs, makes two stops a day to accommodate riders.
In addition to the waiting room, is Stephens County Historical Society's space and museum and the Chamber of Commerce and Welcome Center. Opened in the spring of 2006, the society's exhibits offer a glimpse of our past including an area devoted to the exciting and interesting train history of Toccoa. While promoting the depot's museums as educational tools for students and visitors, all ages can enjoy the trains. |
