Mt. Clemens Train Depot
Mt. Clemens, Michigan
The Mt. Clemens Train Depot was built in 1859 and served the community until 1954. The Depot was purchased by the city in 1980, then leased to and restored by Michigan Transit Museum, which has maintained the Depot. The Museum is devoted to both Local Steam, Electric Rail history and historical artifacts, including Thomas Edison's younger years when he worked at the depot. The Depot Museum is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is a Non-Profit Operating Railway Museum providing passengers a 1920-1940s 45-minute, 4.5-mile ride, which enters Selfridge Air National Guard Base, where passengers are given time to tour the Air Museum on the base.
